About: This piece was created from a press photo of the electric chair known as “old sparky” at Sing Sing State Penitentiary in New York. It was used to execute Communist traitors Júlíus and Ethel Rosenberg in 1953, who were communists guilty of passing nuclear secrets to Russia. The same photo was famously used by Warhol in his death and disaster series of 1963.
