The graphic elements superimposed over the pencil sketch of Marilyn are a reference to both the famous "I Love New York" logo and also Robert Indiana's pop art classic "LOVE" artwork. But it also symbolises the love Marilyn had from millions of fans, yet she could never find or keep for herself.
