Artwork Inspiration:
The artwork draws inspiration from the acclaimed 2019 Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix and the Frank Sinatra song "Send In The Clowns," a notable feature of the movie. The film, set in 1981 and loosely based on DC Comics characters, chronicles the journey of Arthur Fleck, a failed clown and aspiring stand-up comic whose descent into mental illness and nihilism sparks a violent countercultural revolution against the wealthy in a decaying Gotham City. The artwork itself presents a "light" versus "dark" split screen scenario, juxtaposing a vintage advertisement portraying carefree clowns fooling around with the caption "Send in the clowns" against a much darker alternative depiction of the Joker “sending in the clowns” to incite the angry crowds to "kill The Rich." This compelling scene is framed by a detailed map of Gotham City, showcasing landmarks such as the Arkham Asylum and Wayne Manor.
