About: This mugshot of Sid Vicious was taken in New York 1979 shortly before his death of an O/D. He was arrested ‘In Connection with murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Her body was found in their New York hotel room at the iconic Chelsea Hotel. Vicious phoned room service to raise the alarm with the hotel staff and then ran downstairs saying "something's happened to my girl". Police were called to the scene and handcuffed Vicious. As he was led away he shouted at a small crowd gathered to "sod off" ! He was charged under his real name, John Ritchie and could have faced imprisonment if he hadn’t died.
